Welcome to BikeTrue!

Who is BikeTrue for?

BikeTrue’s mission is simple. Because finding the right bike for your needs can be time consuming and confusing, it’s my goal to compile the most comprehensive, trustworthy information possible so readers can a). get the exact information they need about the individual bike, accessory, or dilemma they’re facing and b) make a firm decision they can feel good about.

The BikeTrue site and growing community is meant for:

  • Beginners who are curious about cycling but don’t know where to start or what to ask
  • Cyclists who are intimidated by and/or are uncomfortable interacting with bike shop staff
  • Cycling enthusiasts who want to participate in and contribute to a colorful community of people, not brands

Who's Behind BikeTrue?

Brian Bender, Creator

About BikeTrue

Hi, my name is Brian and I’m the creator and sole contributor of biketrue.com. I’m a writer by day and a cycling hobbyist in my dreams. I’m not a triathlon gymrat, a fixie geek, an adrenaline junkie, or a mustachioed unicyclist–nor do I claim to be one here. I’m just a curious soul exploring a new part of myself and writing about it as I go. I’m incredibly excited to shart that part of me with you.

Why I’m Making BikeTrue.com

The truth is, I’m also a major introvert who has trouble asking for help. In 2012, I moved to Arizona with no car and needed a way to get around. On one exceptionally hot morning, I nervously bought the cheapest beach cruiser I could find from a nearby bike shop without saying a word to the cashier.

Needless to say, it was a mistake. I didn’t know what I was doing or what I needed. Even more importantly, I didn’t know what to ask.

Fast forward to today, as I delve back into cycling and face the same anxieties and uncertainty I faced in 2012, I wanted to create a resource that might help others like me find the bike that fits their lifestyle and brings them joy. That’s my goal.

In the meantime, thank you for being here and growing with me at biketrue.com. If you have any comments or questions, you can always email me at [email protected] and I’ll respond to your email as soon as I get the chance.
